A: WARM UP:
Write down on the board and demand:
Fill in the blank with the most suitable word.

B. Presentation:
+ Before you read:
- Ask students to look at the picture and answer.
? What do you know about desert?
? What kinds of plants and animals live in a desert?
? Name some of the countries which have deserts.
+ A desert is a hot, dry, sandy place.
+ A desert is also a beautiful land of silence and space. The sun shines, the wind blows, and time and space seem endless.
+ Nothing is soft. The sand and the rocks are hard, and many of the plants, such as the cactus, have hard needles instead of leaves.
+ ( Among ten main deserts in the world there are 6 hot deserts and 4 cold deserts)
6 hot deserts: experience high temperatures during the day all year round.
4 cold deserts: have relatively hot summers and extremely cold winters.
+ While you read:
- Ask st to read the passages one before.
- Read again
- Explain students some new words in the text.
- Ask students to read again.
- Correct their mistakes.
