COMPARISON
So sánh chỉ ra các mức độ khác nhau bằng cách dùng các trạng từ hoặc tính từ, gồm có so sánh bằng, so sánh hơn, so sánh kém, và cực cấp:
I. SO SÁNH BẰNG:
So sánh bằng là so sánh bằng cách chỉ ra hai vật hoặc có hoặc không như nhau:

Subject + verb + as + adjective / adverb + as + noun / pronoun
Ví du
John sings as well as his sister. (adverb)
Their house is as big as that one. (adjective)
My book is as interesting as yours(*). (adjective)
His car runs as fast as a race car. (adverb)
Chú ý: đôi khi "so" được dùng thay cho "as" đứng trước "tính từ” hoặc "trạng từ" trong câu phủ định so sánh.
Ví dụ: Peter is as tall as his father.
He is not so tall as his father.

So sánh bằng còn sử dụng cấu trúc "the same + (noun) + as"

Subject + verb + the same + (noun) + as + noun / pronoun
Ví dụ: My house is as high as his.
My house is the same height as his.
Chú ý: as high as = the same height as.
Một số danh từ của tính từ thường gặp như:
Heavy / Light Weight
Wide / Narrow Width
Deep / Shallow Depth
Long / Short Length
Broad Broadth
High / Short Height
Old Age
Thin / Thick Thickness
Chú ý: Trái nghĩa với "the same as" là "different from"
To be the same as: như
To be different from: khác với.
Ví dụ: nationality is different from hers.
Our climate is different from Canada`s.
These trees are the same as those.
He speaks the same language as she.
Her address is the same as Rita`s.
Their teacher is different from ours.
My typewriter types the same as yours.
She takes the same courses as her husband.
(*) Chú ý: nên nhớ rằng sau "as" luôn phải Sử dụng đúng theo ngữ pháp anh văn.
